Wingate Residences on Blackstone Boulevard’s Roberto Costa and Maria Andreano were amongst just six professionals in the state of Rhode Island awarded with a Healthcare Hero Award by RIALA (Rhode Island Assisted Living Association.

RIALA’s Healthcare Hero award is given to honor professionals in the Assisted Living industry who go the extra mile to not only ensure that their residents receive outstanding care, but also improve the lives of those living and working in their community.  These heroes are recognized for their commitment, innovation, dedication, leadership, and teamwork.

Roberto Costa, Executive Director at Wingate Residences on Blackstone Boulevard in Providence, was awarded with RIALA’s Executive Director Hero Award. Roberto has been a loyal, hard-working member of the Wingate Family since day one. He has worked for two senior living communities since starting with Wingate in 2017. Roberto is known as a problem solver, or a team player, by his employees at Blackstone, there is never a task he feels is “beneath” him.

“Anyone who works for Roberto knows that he expects excellence and will not tolerate less. He believes that the residents deserve the best possible living environment and life experiences that he and his staff and offer.  For example, he lived at the community for an extended amount of time during the initial COVID outbreak to ensure his staff and residents had everything they needed, including feeling his complete support.  Roberto leads by example every day.  No matter the challenges that are faced, professionally or personally, Roberto comes to work with a smile and ready to take on the day.  He is consistently prepared, organized, and puts any and all energy into his next project (or 5 that he is working on at the same time!)” 

Maria Andreano, Director of Wellness at Wingate Residences on Blackstone Boulevard in Providence, was awarded with RIALA’s Department Director Hero Award. She began at Blackstone in 2015 and displays her loyalty and dedication to her team and her residents daily.  Wingate appreciates every hour Maria has spent with our residents and their families and are honored to call her a member of the Wingate family.

Maria is an incredible director and nurse whose expertise, empathy, and loyalty truly shined as she led her team during a very challenging time in the last two years. She even lived at the community for a month at the start of the pandemic. She has been a huge asset to our community and always goes above and beyond.”
